Memorial Day in Libertyville

Libertyville will host a Memorial Day parade Monday and a program that will be dedicated to army veteran Sgt. Daniel Nerstrom of Libertyville.

The parade will start at 9:30 a.m. and will travel to Cook Park for the ceremony.

Captain Brooks Smith of the U.S. Army will speak at the event. Nerstrom’s body was found on March 13 on the Metra tracks east of downtown Libertyville. He was missing for three months and the coroner ruled that his death was a suicide, the Chicago Tribune reports.

Following the ceremony in Cook Park, the group will march to Lakeside Cemetery to complete the memorial recognition.
