Mile of Cars Association to Host Used Car Sales
The Libertyville Mile of Cars Association will host its second used car sales Sept. 15 to 17.

Ten car dealerships from across Libertyville will once again come together to hold a used car sales event Sept. 15 to 17.
The event will run from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday at the Life Storage facility, 700 E. Park Ave.
Glenn Bockwinkel, spokesman of the Libertyville Mile of Cars Association came before the village board Tuesday to request a temporary use permit to use open space and parking area to the east of the existing building for the sale.
Owner of Acura of Libertyville, Bockwinkel said the second annual event allows area dealers to come together to one central location and allows consumers to shop various dealers without having to go from lot to lot.
In today’s economy, people are looking more to buying a used car than they were a year ago, Bockwinkel said. And with a lack of inventory, used car sales also are increasing. Selling 150 used cars the first year, he said the dealers expect to sell at least that amount this year.
“I hope you are out of inventory by the time this is over,” Mayor Terry Weppler said.
Trustee Drew Cullum said the village recognizes the dealerships not only help the village through sales tax contribution, but also by the people they employ and the commerce that supports the village.
“We tend to take that for granted,” he said. “We want to be there to support you in any way we can.”
