Motorcyclist Dead In Lake Co. Crash

A Jeep and motorcycle collided Wednesday afternoon in Lake County, police said.

LAKE COUNTY, IL – One man is dead after a motorcycle collided with a Jeep in a crash Wednesday afternoon in Lake County. The collision occurred at about 2:15 p.m. when a 2008 Jeep Compass turned left from Kilbourne Road onto Route 173 in Newport Township and drove in front of a 1999 Yamaha motorcycle that was southbound on Kilbourne Road, according to preliminary investigation findings by the Lake County Sheriff's Office. The motorcycle collided with the Jeep, which was driven by a 69-year-old Gurnee woman, police said.

The driver of the motorcycle was ejected. He taken to St. Catherine’s Medical Center in Pleasant Prairie, WI, where he was pronounced deceased. The driver of the Jeep was not injured.

The intersection of North Kilbourne Road and Route 173 remained closed as of 3:40 p.m., sheriff's office officials said. The intersection is expected to remained closed for an additional two to three hours, police said.

The crash remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Unit.
