Multi-Agency Search Underway For Missing Person Near Libertyville

LIBERTYVILLE, IL — Authorities launched a search Thursday afternoon for a missing person in the area of Lake Minear and the Des Plaines River Trail near Libertyville, with multiple law enforcement agencies assisting in the effort, police said.

The search began at about 3:40 p.m. Friday, when the Libertyville Police Department responded to the area as part of a mutual aid request from the Lake County Forest Preserve Police, according to a news release from the police department.

Libertyville officers assisted with searching the area, including deploying a police drone to aid in the effort, according to the department.

The Lake County Forest Preserve Police is leading the investigation. No additional information about the missing person or the circumstances surrounding the search was immediately released.
