Nationally Recognized Bakery To Open Location In Libertyville
Hewn Bread, which currently operates a bakery in Evanston, was recently recognized by Food & Wine for having the best bread in Illinois.

LIBERTYVILLE, IL — A popular Evanston bakery is planning to open its second location in Libertyville this fall.
The Lake County location is slated to open at 348 N. Milwaukee Avenue and will initially serve a scaled back version of its Evanston menu, including croissants, loaves of blonde country and whole wheat seeded bread and brownies. All of the business's baked goods will still be prepared in Evanston and then transported via delivery vans to the Libertyville location.

"We were looking at a whole bunch of towns, but then when this property came up it was like, 'Oh this seems perfect, because it's right on the main street there,'" co-owner Julie Matthei told Patch. "It seems like it's a really business-friendly suburb, a nice community of people who want and appreciate good food. All of those factors came into play."
Early next year the bakery will likely start serving up grab-and-g0 lunches like its caprese and turkey with cranberry sandwich, according to Eater Chicago, which first reported the new opening.
