Opening Date Set for Libertyville Farmers Market

The popular farmers market will return for the summer season in the coming weeks.

LIBERTYVILLE, IL - Opening day for the Libertyville Farmers Market will be on Thursday, June 1, according to a news release from MainStreet Libertyville. The farmers market will open at 7 a.m. on June 1 and the traditional watermelon ceremony with Mayor Terry Weppler is scheduled for 9 am. The farmers market will run from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Thursday through Oct. 19 at Cook Park in downtown Libertyville.

Vendors at the market, which is touted as one of Lake County's top farmers markets, will provide plenty of fresh produce. Also featured are pastries, artisanal breads, cheeses, plants, flowers, free range meats and eggs, kettle corn, pickles, olives, mushrooms, certified organic vegetables, local honey, sauces, goat milk soap, appetizers and homemade dog treats.

New additions to the market include assorted teas, savory crackers, garlic, paleo cookies and treats, maple products, bison and hand made empanadas.You can also bring your knives for sharpening on site.

Those attending can also enjoy breakfast with items such as hand crafted crepes, wood fired pizza, pastries and coffee available to purchase.

Free four-hour parking is available in the covered parking garages on Lake Street and Church Street during the farmers market.
