Oppressive Heat Hits the Chicago Area

Oppressive heat and humidity has hit the Chicago area for the start of this work week.

Temperatures should reach a high of 90 to 94 degrees in the Chicago area today. Heat index values will be between 100 and 110, according to the National Weather Service.

A cold front from the west could spawn scattered thunderstorms across the area Monday -- mainly in communities north of I-80.
