Pedestrian, 70, Killed After Being Struck By Car In Libertyville: Cops

LIBERTYVILLE, IL — A 70-year-old woman was killed after being struck by a car while walking Sunday night on Route 176. Xiufang Wu, of Libertyville, was pronounced dead in the emergency room at Advocate Condell Medical Center following the crash, according to the Lake County Coroner's Office. She died from blunt force injuries as a result of the crash.

The crash remains under investigation by the Libertyville Police Department and MCAT.

The Libertyville police and fire departments responded to the area of Route 176 and Fourth Avenue at around 8:24 p.m. for a vehicle crash with injuries. A preliminary investigation revealed a Honda Pilot was traveling westbound on Route 176 when it struck Wu near the intersection at Fourth Street. Based on the seriousness of the crash, the Major Crash Assistance Team of Lake County was requested to assist with the investigation.
