Police Cite 7 for Underage Drinking at Masonic Temple in Libertyville

Police busted an underage drinking party over the weekend at the Masonic Temple in Libertyville and cited seven for underage drinking, according to a Libertyville Police Department report.

Police were called to the Masonic Temple, 365 Brainerd Avenue, at 11:55 p.m. on Saturday for a report of a disturbance. When they arrived, they found 30 to 40 people running from the building and several vehicles exiting the parking lot. When they entered the temple, they found empty beer cans, liquor bottles and noticed a strong smell of burnt marijuana, according to a Libertyville Police Department report.

While police were investigating the incident, they attempted to stop a vehicle leaving the Masonic Temple. The driver, police said, stepped on the gas, ran a red light and attempted to get away from police. Police eventually stopped his vehicle in a parking lot in the 300 block of North Milwaukee Avenue where police found him to be in possession of marijuana and a holstered expandable baton, according to the police report.

Luis A. Abundez, 18, of Waukegan, was charged with driving with a suspended license, fleeing/attempting to elude police officer, unlawful possession of marijuana, unlawful use of a weapon, disobeying traffic control device, improper turn and failure to signal turn. He was arrested and released after posting his driver’s license and a $1,000 personal recognizance bond, police said.

According to Libertyville police, the following people were also cited for unlawful consumption of alcohol by a minor:

• Hannah M. Alto, 18, of Lakemoor
• Jacob I. Kerman, 18, of Buffalo Grove
• Jaeyoung Kim, 18, of Arlington Heights
