Probiotic Company Eyes Libertyville For $8.3M Facility

If they pick Libertyville, as many as 100 new jobs could be added to the area.

LIBERTYVILLE, IL -- A probiotic and distribution company is eyeing a location along Route 45 for its new $8.3 million, 70,000-square-foot complex that could bring up to 100 new jobs to the area, the Lake County News-Sun reports. The company is asking for a reduced water fee in exchange for building in town. The company's name and the exact location have not been announced, but village administrator Chris Clark said during a Libertyville Water and Sewer Committee meeting earlier this month that the proposal is not a part of the Innovation Park Lake County at the former Motorola campus, according to the newspaper.

"We're not knowledgeable about the company's name, but we did learn of a few specifics I'd like to share with the committee," Clark said. "It is a project with competition from other states, and it's early on in the process but they've spent time doing due diligence and think Libertyville is the best site."

During the Aug. 8 meeting, water and sewer committee members said they would wait on more informationregarding the company and a potential agreement on reduced water rates before moving forward with any official action, the Lake County News-Sun reports.
