Libertyville's 3rd Axe Throwing Business Could Include 'Rage Rooms'

LIBERTYVILLE, IL — A new entertainment venue featuring axe throwing, paint splatter rooms and a “rage room” where customers can smash items could open in Libertyville.

The iSmash location is proposed for the Butterfield Square shopping center at 1419 Peterson Road and received a recommendation for approval from the village plan commission, according to the Daily Herald.

ABJ Ventures LLC is seeking a special-use permit to operate the facility, where customers could smash items like glass and electronics in supervised “rage rooms,” along with axe throwing, paint splatter rooms and a virtual shooting simulator, according to the article.

The proposal will go before the village board for finalconsideration, and if approved, the venue would operate by appointment with limited occupancy and no alcohol service will be available.
