Results From Libertyville Distracted Driver Campaign Released
April was Distracted Driver Awareness Month.
LIBERTYVILLE, IL - From Libertyville Police Department: Between April 1-30, 2019, the Libertyville Police Department participated in the Illinois’ Distracted Driving Enforcement campaign, bringing awareness to area residents and issuing 149 citations. Increased enforcement was part of National Distracted Driving Awareness Month.
“Driver distraction is a persistent issue in Libertyville, and often has life-altering consequences,” said Sgt. Edward Swider, “Issuing a citation is a proven way to get motorists to reduce distracted driving.”
During the month-long campaign, the Libertyville Police Department issued:

- 127 electronic communication device citations
- 1 seat belt citations
- 1 felony arrests
- 8 no valid/suspended/revoked licenses
- 6 uninsured motorists
- 4 speeding citations
- 2 drug arrests
“Distracted Driving Awareness Month may be over, but Libertyville Police Department will continue stopping drivers for this deadly behavior,” said Sgt. Edward Swider.
