Robber Stole $151K In Jewelry From Libertyville Store

Police are asking for the public's help in tracking down a man accused of stealing the jewelry from Rolland's Jewelers Friday morning.

LIBERTYVILLE, IL — Police in Libertyville are searching for a robber who stole $151,000 worth of jewelry from Rolland's Jewelers Friday morning. Police say a man entered the jewelry shop, located at 500 N. Milwaukee Avenue, at 11:24 a.m., perused jewelry for about 30 minutes and then handed a note to an employee that implied he had a gun, according to a news release from the Libertyville Police Department.

He then took the jewelry he'd been looking at and fled the store on foot, heading west on Cook Avenue before getting into a black, four-door vehicle, police said. The vehicle was last seen driving south on Brainerd from West Cook Avenue, according to the news release.

The robber is described as being a white or Hispanic man in his late-20s or early-30s who is about 6 feet tall and weighs 200 pounds, authorities said. He was last seen wearing a white and grey baseball hat, a blue-hooded sweatshirt with a white t-shirt, blue jeans and brown boots.

The employee was not injured, and the robbery remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call the Libertyville Police Department's non-emergency number at 847-362-8310.
