On June 4, 2014 Devan A. Bald, 18, of the 2000 block of West Autumn Drive in Round Lake began communicating with a 9 year old girl via Facebook. Bald’s communication became sexual in nature. The father of the 9 year old girl discovered the communication and contacted the Lake County Sheriff’s Office to report the incident.
After the Lake County Sheriff’s Office was made aware of the incident, a detective with the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Cybercrimes Unit continued communicating with Bald. On June 6, 2014 Bald made arrangements to meet who he thought was the 9 year old girl. Bald was instead met by Lake County Sheriff’s Office detectives. During an interview, he told detectives his intentions were to meet with the 9 year old girl to engage in sexual activities.
Bald was charged with four counts of Indecent Solicitation of a Child (three Class 1 Felonies and one Class 3 Felony).
Bald’s jail bond was set at $400,000.00. He is scheduled to appear in court on June 11, 2014 at 1:30 pm.
