High School Coach Sues 92-Year-Old Man After Head-On Car Accident
Longtime Libertyville High School coach has not been able to return to work since the July car accident in Wilmette.

A baseball and football coach at Libertyville High School is suing a 92-year-old Chicago man for his role in a summer car accident that left the coach injured and unable to work.
James Schurr - head coach of the LHS baseball team - filed the lawsuit against Homer Askoinis, the elderly man who has plead guilty in court to “improper lane usage” from a July 18 head-on crash on Skokie Road near Central Avenue in Wilmette, according to Chicago Tribune reports.
The lawsuit, filed in the Circuit Court of Cook County, claims Askounis was driving north on Skokie Road when he hit Schurr’s car head-on. The impact resulted in “severe injuries” and required Schurr to undergo spinal fusion surgery to treat herniated discs after the accident. Schurr’s attorney says the coach is still under a doctor’s care. He has been unable to return to work.
