If you consider yourself a foodie, then mark your calendar for Saturday, February 28th and don’t miss Sunset’s Specialty Food Show. Whether you’ve got a culinary connoisseur in the family or are just looking to try something new, The Specialty Food Show has something for everyone. This unique and incredibly delicious event brings together a vast array of specialty food producers, who are eager to share their gourmet, artisanal, and one-of-a-kind products. The show’s mouthwatering lineup features over 30 local and national vendors, and their wide variety of high quality offerings includes something for every palate.
Those looking for something refreshing are sure to enjoy Tsamma’s natural cold-pressed watermelon juice, which is packed with healthful nutrients and provides a hydrating source of antioxidants and vitamins. Meanwhile, those who prefer something a little more indulgent should make sure to sample the offerings from Al Gelato Chicago; the company’s award-winning gelatos are made small batches according to a traditional Italian method and never contain hormones, preservatives, or artificial colors.

Meat-lovers in the community will be happy to hear that Volpi Foods, Two Fat Guys Gourmet BBQ Sauce, and Alexian are also among the vendors that will be in attendance. Volpi Foods’ salami are inspired by time-tested Italian traditions and are made from fresh, high quality ingredients. Two Fat Guys Gourmet BBQ Sauces offer versatile and complex flavor and never contains high fructose corn syrup or GMOs. Alexian’s products are perfect for true gourmets; their carefully crafted pâtés never contain artificial ingredients, fillers, hormones, or antibiotics, and are as decadent as they are delicious.
For those with a sweet tooth, Carol’s Cookies, Sweet Ali’s Gluten Free Bakery, and Goldie’s Scones will also be present at the event. Based in Highland Park, Carol’s Cookies has been providing the area with award-winning handmade cookies for nearly 3 decades. Sweet Ali’s Gluten Free Bakery knows how hard it can be for those eating gluten-free to find baked goods that taste as good as traditional ones, and the company specializes in creating gourmet creations that those with and without gluten intolerances can enjoy. Goldie’s Scones are all-natural, have the perfect flaky texture, and are made by hand using only the finest ingredients available.
Other vendors and products that will be represented at Sunset’s Specialty Food Show include Mandia Italian pizza, Snack Delight, Sartori BellaVitano cheese, Angie’s BOOMCHICKAPUFF, Mystic Pizza, Valley Lahvosh Baking Co., Denmark’s Finest Havarti, Great Midwest cheese, Butter Bella, and Sunset’s nuts.
While providing customers with a unique chance to taste, to purchase, and to learn about some of the country’s best foods is the focus of the event, The Specialty Foods Show also offers customers a valuable opportunity to give back to their communities. The show will serve as a collection point for the Boy Scouts’ Scouting for Food Drive, which collects canned foods and other nonperishables for local food pantries. Sunset encourages everyone who attends the event to make a donation if they are able and is honored to be involved with such an important charitable effort.
