Taking the Headache out of Health Insurance
Do you need to buy insurance? Get some helpful advice.

Barring few exceptions, every individual must have health insurance or face monetary penalties when filing tax returns. Are you uninsured? Are you self-employed or work for a company that does not offer health insurance? Have you recently lost health insurance coverage? The Affordable Care Act (ACA) has brought many changes to how and when to purchase individual health insurance. This course will enable you to become an informed consumer. You will leave the class understanding: the pros and cons of electing COBRA coverage; what the marketplace/exchange “Obamacare” plans are and how they differ from plans offered by insurance companies; how one qualifies for a subsidy, and how and when to apply; the timeline for when you need to sign up in order to avoid incurring a penalty for not having health insurance; how to choose the best plan for yourself and your family; and whether or not you will be able to keep your doctors and hospitals. Gold Card Fee: $13.50. Tuition: $19. Two classes are available. Class 5231 meets on Wednesday from 7:00–9:00 PM on February 10 at Libertyville High School. Class 5232 meets on Thursday from 7:00–9:00 PM April 28 at Vernon Hills High School. Registration is required. Register online through District 128’s Community Education Department at www.ComEd128.org, or call 847-247-4576 to register by phone.
