October 2, 2015 - Thomas Pickering, Ambassador to the United Nations under President George H.W. Bush (1989 - 1992) will speak about the wide ranging mission of the United Nations and its relevance in today’s dynamic, interdependent, nuclear world. He will also present ideas for strengthening the U.N. as it moves forward.

In a diplomatic career that spanned four decades, Pickering served as U.S. Ambassador to Russia, India, Israel, El Salvador, Nigeria and Jordan. He was a Special Assistant to Secretaries of State William P. Rogers and Henry Kissinger. Pickering is currently Vice Chairman of Hills & Company, an international consulting firm providing advice on international investment, trade and risk assessment issues.
