Woman Pulled Over for DUI Had Young Child Sleeping in Backseat: Police
She also faces a charge of endangering the life of a child.

A 21-year-old Mundelein woman faces charges after police pulled her over for a DUI this past week and found her small child sleeping in the back seat, according to a Libertyville Police Department report.
Danielle Cruz, of 203 E. Hawthorne Boulevard in Mundelein, has been charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, endangering the life or welfare of a child, operating an unsafe vehicle, operating an uninsured vehicle and driving without headlights in connection with the incident.
Police said they pulled Cruz over after spotting a vehicle driving without headlights at about 11:55 p.m. on Saturday on Route 176 near Dawes Street. During the traffic stop, officers saw a small child sleeping in the back seat, according to the police report.

Craz failed sobriety tests and was taken into custody, police said. Her child was turned over to the custody of a family member.
She was later released after posting her driver’s license and a $1,000 personal recognizance bond. She is next expected in court on Sept. 18.
