Woman Using Walker to Cross Street Hit by Car, Killed: Police
The woman was walking with a friend after purchasing two bottles of vodka from a nearby gas station when the accident occurred.

A 57-year-old Beach Park woman was struck and killed by a car while using a walker to cross the road Tuesday night, police said.
The woman, whose identity is being withheld as authorities notify her family, was walking with a friend after purchasing two bottles of vodka from a nearby gas station when the accident occurred at 9 p.m. in the area of Beach Road and Sheridan Road in Beach Park, according to a Lake County Sheriff’s Office press release. A store clerk said the woman could have been intoxicated.
The two were attempting to cross Sheridan Road from east to west when the woman was struck by a 2009 Chevrolet Trailblazer driven by Ryan E. Lane, 32, of Kenosha, Wis., according to the news release.

Deputies first on scene assisted with CPR and used an AED until rescue personnel could arrive. The victim was transported to Vista East Hospital in Waukegan where she was pronounced dead.
Toxicology results of both the victim and Lane are pending. No charges have been filed at this time.
