Abbvie Employee Struck, Killed in Parking Lot Following Late-Night Shift
The 49-year-old Beach Park woman became trapped under the vehicle after being struck in the North Chicago parking lot.

A 49-year-old Beach Park woman was hit and killed while headed to her vehicle in a parking lot in North Chicago following a late-night shift at Abbvie in North Chicago Monday.
Simone E. Gibson, of the 10100 block of West Wadsworth Road in Beach Park, became pinned underneath the 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee that struck her in the parking lot at 100 Abbott Road at 11:15 p.m. The Jeep had just left a parking stall and struck Gibson as the driver pulled forward, Lake County Sheriff’s Office Detective Christopher Covelli said in a news release.
“It is believed Gibson was walking to her vehicle following her shift,” Covelli said.

Emergency personnel from the Libertyville Fire Department were able to extricate Gibson from under the vehicle. She was taken to Condell Medical Center where she was pronounced dead.
The crash remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigation Unit. An autopsy for Gibson has been scheduled by the Lake County Coroner’s Office for Tuesday afternoon.
