Worst Restaurant Meals Highlighted in Watchdog Group's Xtreme Eating List

The Center for Science in Public Interest highlighted three Cheesecake Factory meals in its 2014 list.

How long are you willing to work out for your favorite restaurant meal?

This past week, the Center for Science in the Public Interest released its Xtreme Eating 2014 list, which singles out menu items at chain restaurants with particularly high calorie counts, saturated fat, sodium and sugar.

Here is a look at this year’s “winners:”

The Cheesecake Factory’s Bruléed French Toast has 2,780 calories, 93 grams of saturated fat (almost a full work week’s worth), 2,230 milligrams of sodium, and 24 teaspoons of sugar. “To neutralize the calories in your brunch, you’d have to swim laps for seven hours,” according to the Center for Science in the Public Interest.

Red Robin Gourmet Burgers’ A1 Peppercorn Burger has 3,540 calories, 69 grams of saturated fat and 6,280 milligrams of sodium. You would need to take a brisk 12-hour walk to burn off that burger.

Famous Dave’s “The Big Slab” of St. Louis-Style Spareribs has 2,770 calories, 54 grams of saturated fat and 4,320 milligrams of sodium. To burn off this meal you would need to mow the lawn for 7.5 hours.

BJ’s Restaurant and Brewhouse’s Signature Deep Dish Chicken Bacon Ranch Pizza has 2,160 calories, 30 grams of saturated fat, and 4,680 milligrams of sodium. You would need to bike for 5.5 hours straight to burn off the deep dish pizza.

Chevys Fresh Mex Super Cinco Combo has 1,920 calories, 36 grams of saturated fat, and 3,950 milligrams of sodium. The Center for Science in the Public Interest says you would have to play 3.5 hours of singles tennis to cancel out those calories.

The Cheesecake Factory Farfalle with Chicken and Roasted Garlic has 2,410 calories, 63 grams of saturated fat and 1,370 milligrams of sodium. To burn it off, plan on jogging for five hours straight.

Joe’s Crab Shack’s The Big “Hook” Up platter has 3,280 calories, 50 grams of saturated fat and 7,610 milligrams of sodium. Those interested in burning the meal off would have to play golf for 11 hours without a cart or caddie.

Maggiano’s Little Italy Prime New York Steak Contadina style has 2,420 calories, 66 grams of saturated fat and 5,620 milligrams of sodium. The Center for Science in the Public Interest recommends 7.5 hours on a rowing machine to burn the meal off.

The Cheesecake Factory’s Reese’s Peanut Butter Chocolate Cake Cheesecake has 1,500 calories, 43 grams of saturated fat and 21 teaspoons of (mostly) added sugar.Those looking to burn the cake off would have to do aerobics for 4.5 hours.
