Accretive Health’s CSSC completes certification

Accretive Health, Inc. recently announced that its Chicago Shared Services Center (CSSC) has completed an in-depth analysis of its patient financial services technology, becoming certified by the Statement on Standards for Attestation Engagements (SSAE) No. 16, which is titled Reporting on Controls at a Service Organization (SOC1).

SSAE 16 was finalized by the auditing standards board of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) in 2010, and is considered the authoritative guidance for reporting on service organizations.

“We are proud of each employee’s efforts and the overall dedication our CSSC has to standardized operating rigors,” said Susan Field, shared services vice president at Accretive Health. A copy of the report is available to customers who used the system during the period, upon request.

A SOC1 examination allows an organization to have its controls relevant to their user entities’ internal controls over financial reporting evaluated and tested by an independent party. In many operational areas, this process results in the identification of opportunities for improvements.

“Our clients also receive a detailed description of our controls and an independent assessment of whether the controls were placed in operation, suitably designed, and operating effectively,” Field added.  “The examination is well-recognized for its significance by our clients and auditing leadership. Sharing this notable achievement only enhances the strong partnerships already established with our healthcare clients.”
