Mitch Albom's inspirational, best-selling book 'Tuesdays with Morrie" comes to stage in Chicago this February.

Mitch Albom’s inspirational, best-selling book ‘Tuesdays with Morrie” comes to stage in Chicago this February. The production will open at Provision Theater, an award-winning Chicago equity company, on February 10.

Provision Theater Company is thrilled to continue its 12th season with ‘Tuesdays With Morrie’ by Jeffrey Hatcher and Mitch Albom. The play runs February 10 - March 20 with performances on Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00 p.m. and Sundays at 3:00 p.m. at Provision Theater, 1001 W. Roosevelt Rd., Chicago, IL 60608.

Tuesdays With Morrie is the autobiographical story of Mitch Albom, an accomplished journalist driven solely by his career, and Morrie Schwartz, his former college professor. Sixteen years after graduation, Mitch hears about Morrie’s appearance on a television news program and learns that his old professor is battling Lou Gehrig’s Disease. Mitch reunites with Morrie, and what starts as a simple visit turns into a weekly pilgrimage and a last class in the meaning of life.

Tuesdays With Morrie is headlined by Provision Theater Company favorites’ Brad Armacost as Morrie Schwartz and Colin Wasmund as Mitch Albom and will be directed by Provision Theater Founding Artistic Director Timothy Gregory.

“This is an important story for all of us, because as Morrie says in the play, ‘Everyone knows they’re going to die, but nobody believes it’,” says Gregory. “This play asks the question, ‘Once we face our fate, do we wither up and disappear, or do we make the best of our time left?’ Once Morrie faced his fate, it determined how he was going to live the rest of his life. He became a lightning rod of ideas and actions. Through his death he discovers meaning and purpose for his life. And of course, all carried out with wonderful humor and affection.”
