Chabad Launches Torah Studies Course

Weekly Classes Explore Judaism’s Relevance in Modern Life

Statistics show that 47% of all New Year resolutions are self-improvement or education related. In that spirit, Chabad of Lincoln Park is launching a weekly Torah Studies class that will explore Judaism’s relevance in modern life. These classes are educational and the inspiration they provide will surely help for self-improvement

“This course is truly novel in the way it probes the depths of classic Jewish thought to address the issues we face in contemporary Jewish life”, says Rabbi Eliyahu Benhiyoun, the course instructor. “I am looking forward to the great discussions that these texts no doubt will generate. The dialogue among participants is often my favorite part of the class.”

Classes will be held at Chabad of Lincoln Park, beginning January, 8th, 2014, 8:30pm – 9:30pm, and continue for 14 consecutive Wednesday evenings. Like all of Chabad’s services, this latest adult education offering is designed for people at all levels of Jewish knowledge.

Some of the topics to be addressed are realizing your true potential, human struggle, and the power of a single action. The series will also include holiday themed classes--for Purim and Passover.

“Whether you consider yourself a Reform, Conservative, Orthodox or an unaffiliated Jew this class will bring meaning and insight which will enhance your holidays no matter where you attend services” says Rabbi Eliyahu Benhiyoun. “We are so sure that people will enjoy it that we invite anyone interested to attend the first lesson free, with no obligation.”
