Chef-Driven, Casual Market Opening This Month in Lincoln Park
A two-year-old Westmont market with a rabid following is opening its second location in Lincoln Park this summer. But the Fullerton Avenue business will not be exactly like its suburban sister, sources say.
A well known suburban chef-driven market is making its way to Fullerton Avenue and officials say it should open by the end of the month.
Westmont's Standard Market will be opening in the former Zapatista space at 444 W. Fullerton Ave. in Lincoln Park, according to a Crain's Chicago report.
The business' "rabid following" reportedly stems from its emphasis on local and sustainable food. It features a grocery and a "Standard Grill" eatery.
"We're taking the grill concept and doing it in Lincoln Park," Ken Tsang, director of technology and marketing at Standard Market, told Crain's, noting that the local branch will not include the grocery portion.
"We want to highlight a tie to the market ... It's a good combination of all the fresh food we have on hand in a 33,000-square-foot market."

An expanded version of the Westmont menu will be available locally, as well as a bar. That location—the company's first—opened just two years ago at 333 E. Ogden Ave.
The Standard Grill is at the heart of the Westmont store. It's a "sophisticated fast-casual restaurant that showcases seasonal ingredients and the culinary talents of the pedigreed chef team," according to the website.
