CrossTown Fitness makes a splash this June as the high intensity interval training gym teams up with Chicago SUP, the city’s premier Stand-Up Paddle Board outfitter, to offer gym-goers a chance to head to the beach for a total body workout this summer. Led every Saturday morning by CrossTown Fitness certified trainer, Betina Gozo, gym affiliates can enjoy the no-cost perk as they kick off their gym shoes and take their workout outdoors when Chicago’s weather is at its best.
Attendees can expect to experience a combination of CTF’s high intensity interval training with SUP’s hybrid of surfing and paddling through a variety of drills that incorporate cardiovascular endurance, stamina, strength, flexibility, power, speed, agility and balance. Each class will run 50 to 60 minutes beginning with 25 to 30 minutes of cardiovascular routines of standing on an oversized surf board and paddling with a single bladed paddle. The remaining 25 to 30 minutes of the class will focus on CTF’s best strength training using free weights, TRX, kettle bells, wave ropes and more.
Classes are scheduled for Saturday mornings with more weekday and weekend classes to come throughout the season.

About Stand-Up Paddle Boarding
Stand-Up Paddle Boarding is a hybrid of Surfing and Kayaking. The concept, which was originally used by ancient Polynesian cultures, has seen a revival in the last 15 years. With the development of specialized equipment, the popularity of the sport has exploded, beginning in Hawaii, and spreading to just about every body of water worldwide.
Classes are included with a CTF membership. Drop-in passes are $25 each and 10-packs are $220 each. Classes will run every Saturday from 8 to 9 a.m. beginning June 1 through September. CTF members will also have free access to SUP Boards Monday through Friday at 6 a.m. to 8 a.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Weather permitting.
