Dog Electrocuted on Old Town Sidewalk
Dog owner Brian Malone describes Ladainian's painful final moments.

CHICAGO, IL - A dog was killed Monday after being electrocuted on a North Side sidewalk while being walked by his owner.
The dog, Ladainian, came too close to an orange cone that was near a copper rod outside the Marshall Field Garden Apartments near Sedgwick and Blackhawk streets in Old Town, according to an NBC Chicago report.
The mixed breed dog was walking ahead of his owner, Brian Malone, on the sidewalk when all of a sudden he started “yelping like I have never heard,” Malone said. “He went to the ground.”

“It was torturous to say the least to watch.”
Malone tried administering CPR to his friend of six-years and even felt a volt of electricity himself. He believes the cone was covering the rod, which may have electrified the snow that had been melting in the area that day.

The area is now roped off with police tape, and ComEd has responded.
“I just wanted to make sure that something like this doesn’t happen again,” Malone said.
