What: Dr. Walter Massey, President of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) will host a cocktail reception, dinner, and a guided tour of the prestigious school as part of the Rotary Chicago's After Work Program.
When: Tuesday, June 3, 2014. Program is from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

One of the World’s Leaders in Education to Host Tour of The School of the Art Institute of Chicago for World’s Oldest Service Organization!
President of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Walter E. Massey, Ph.D., will host a tour of the prestigious school which is recognized as one of the most historically significant schools of art and design in the nation. Columbia University’s National Arts Journalism survey says the SAIC is “the most influential art college in the United States” – the School is consistently ranked among the top three graduate fine arts programs in the nation by U.S. News and World Report. Impressive alumni include Ivan Albright, Roger Brown, Archibald J. Motley, Jr., Georgia O’Keeffe, Halston, Richard Hunt, Cynthia Rowley, and Victor Skrebneski. Guests for the event will get special access to the Fashion Design Department and the Architecture- Interior Architecture- Designed Objects Department, both of which are housed within the historic Sullivan Center.
For the Rotary After Work Program, Dr. Massey, a physicist, will share a rare look into his personal career, which includes positions of President of Morehouse College, Professor of Physics and VP of Research at the University of Chicago, Director of the National Science Foundation (appointed by President George H.W. Bush), Chairman of the Bank of America, and many prestigious board affiliations. He has also been recognized for his many accomplishments with honorary degrees from over 30 universities, including Yale, Northwestern and Ohio State.
The world’s oldest service club and founded right here in Chicago in 1905, ROTARY/ONE is made up of professional men and women who meet weekly to collaborate on business and to use collective talents and resources to make a difference in the world.
