DUI Patrol Will Be in 19th District Friday Night
An increased police presence will check for drunk drivers in Lake View, Lincoln Park and other neighborhoods on the North Side.

CHICAGO, IL - The Chicago Police Department announced Thursday its “DUI Strike Force” will be out on the North Side Friday night.
The patrol will have checkpoints out in the 19th (Town Hall) Police District from 7 p.m. through 3 a.m., according to a news release.
“The purpose of this program is to saturate a pre-designated area with roving police officers that continually monitor vehicular traffic for signs of impaired driving,” according to the release. “Patrols also place emphasis on speed, alcohol-related and safety belt violations. Police vehicles equipped for speed detection are deployed to apprehend speeding violators.”

The department may also deploy its Breath Alcohol Testing unit to speed up an arrest of a drunk driver.
The 19th District is bordered by the lakefront to the east, Fullerton to the south, Lawrence to the north and just west of Western to the west.
