Food, Fitness, Finances, Friendships and Fun Focus of New Summer Camp
Life Skills Educators Teams Up with Whole Foods Market Lincoln Park, MB Financial and Formula Fitness Clubs to Educate Children about Essent

CHICAGO, May 13, 2015 – A unique and innovative summer camp in Lincoln Park focuses on life skills that give kids the tools they need to make smart, healthy choices while having fun.
The CORE4® Challenge is a new summer day camp for middle school kids, ages 11 to 14 years old that emphasizes Food, Fitness, Finances, and Friendships – the CORE 4. Offered by Chicago-based Life Skills Educators, the camp will be held this summer in Lincoln Park near the Clybourn Corridor.
“What could be better than learning skills you’ll have for life, while having a great time with your friends,” said Cheryl Cepuran, president, Life Skills Educators. “This camp offers a way for kids to be creative and learn important skills that will impact their lives, from the food they eat to the texts they send.

“The camp features games, activities and field trips to locations such as Fitness Formula Clubs and Whole Foods Lincoln Park, where they learn team building and leadership while gaining self-confidence in a fun, safe and nurturing environment,” Cepuran added. “We’ve designed this camp to challenge students, but also enable them to have fun and make friends while they learn these crucial life skills.”
Throughout the two-week program, kids will experience hands-on activities and challenges designed specifically for the camp and taught by experts in each field when they visit Whole Foods Market Lincoln Park, MB Financial, and Formula Fitness Clubs locations. Topics include: cooking, fitness, nutrition, money management, and social skills, such as social-media safety and conflict resolution. The final day of camp is spent working on a community service project with a local non-profit organization.

During the CORE4 Challenge, students are split into teams and compete with their team through eight days of the two-week camp. Each team rotates through the CORE4, spending two days in each area.
Campers are presented with challenges using the CORE4 skills, including:
· Creating a plan for a new Chicago Park District youth center
· Writing and recording original music
· Competing in a “Master Chef” challenge
“Students learn by doing,” said Alex Anderson, marketing and community outreach specialist of Whole Foods Market in Lincoln Park. “The kids attending this camp will get a chance to learn about food and nutrition by preparing delicious food. We are thrilled to partner with Life Skills Educators to help teach kids how to eat healthy.”
The CORE4 Challenge will be held June 22 to July 3, July 6 to July 17, and July 20 to July 31, Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., at ChicagoQuest’s school annex, 1443 N. Clybourn in Lincoln Park. To register for the camp, please visit: http://lifeskillseducators.com.
