GEJA'S CAF? CELEBRATES THE CHEESIEST HOLIDAY: NATIONAL CHEESE FONDUE WEEK
"Our pot runneth over with cheese!" —Jeff Lawler, Managing Partner of Geja's Cafe

Chicago’s 50 year-old legendary fondue restaurant Geja’s Café, 340 W. Armitage, will celebrate National Cheese Fondue Week this April. Geja’s will kick off the festivities on Monday, April 6th and they will continue through Sunday, April 12th. On Sunday, April 12th, Geja’s will host the 3rd Annual Cheese Fondue Cooking Class from 1-3 pm. Attendees will learn the secrets of making Geja’s famous Swiss Gruyere cheese fondue and enjoy wine selected by Geja’s wine professionals to complement the cheese fondue. Participants will also take the cheese fondue made during the class with bread and grapes home to enjoy with friends and family. The event will cost $30 per person.
Guests who mention National Cheese Fondue Week between Monday, April 6th and Sunday, April 12th will receive $5 off each premier dinner. Cheese fondue samples will also be available at the bar for those opting for drinks and a dip.
The history of cheese fondue dates back to the sheep and goat herders of the 1500’s. While moving their flocks across the mountain valleys of Switzerland, they would carry cheese, bread and wine. Over time the shepherds learned to melt the cheese into the wine and dip their stale breads into the mixture for a hot meal; hence creating cheese fondue.
