Join founder of the Girls Guitar School in Los Angeles (and former OTS
instructor), October Crifasi, for this special two-day immersion in the sound
and style of female-crafted rock n roll, L.A.-style . Learn to play and craft tunes based on music
by L.A. bands the Donnas, the Like, Dum Dum Girls, The Dollyrots, The Runaways, and
more.
This class is for advanced
beginner and intermediate guitar and bass players. Knowledge of open, power and partial F chord
required. Electric guitars welcome, but
not necessary (amps not provided, students must provide their own). Workshop will culminate in casual in-class
performance of songs learned and created over the course of the weekend.
Prerequisite: Knowledge of basic open
chords, power chords, partial F and B chords, and basic strumming.

October Crifasi is a singer/songwriter and teaching artist, based in Los Angeles, California. She has performed and taught guitar all over the country, including several years on the faculty at the Old Town School of Folk Music in Chicago, Illinois where she founded the school’s first female rock ensemble (still being taught by a former student).
October has maintained an active teaching studio and group guitar program in
Los Angeles for girls and women for over twelve years as well as providing coaching
and consultation services to the local film and television community working on
projects for the Great American Country Channel (GAC), MTV, and Lifetime
Networks. She is also a contributing writer for Acoustic Guitar Magazine.
