Lead Shuts Down Water Fountains at Lincoln Park Zoo, Lakefront Trail
An ABC-7 investigation found high levels of lead at two of the 11 fountains tested.

Chicago, IL - The city has shut down two public water fountains after a television news station investigation found high levels of lead in both.
The ABC-7-Chicago investigative team tested 11 Chicago Park District fountains on the lakefront and in Lincoln Park Zoo, finding lead levels that were higher than the federal standard at two: the one at Montrose Avenue on the Lakefront Trail and one near the elephant house in the zoo.
The Montrose fountain test revealed 19 parts per billion of lead, while the one at the zoo showed a reading of 15 parts per billion.
