Lincoln Park Gets A Vibrant, Colorful New Mural
"I want it to inspire dreams, creativity and a positive feeling," artist Mac Blackout said.
CHICAGO — A pedestrian passageway in Lincoln Park is getting revamped and repaved, with new lighting, dumpster enclosures and a massive, colorful mural. Created by Chicago-based artist Mac Blackout, the new Lincoln-Fullerton Alley mural is designed to reflect the city's vibrancy.
"I designed this piece to illustrate the passageway and life in the city through giant colorful walking figures, buildings and dream-like abstract patterns," Blackout said. "I want it to inspire dreams, creativity and a positive feeling as well as serving as a backdrop for the neighborhood, Lincoln Hall and its vibrant night life."
Blackout, a prolific local musician and artist, moved to Chicago in 1999 after growing up in Bedford, Indiana. Over the past 18 years, he's founded multiple bands and designed covers for their full length albums. He's currently a freelance illustrator, muralist and fine artist.

The Lincoln Park Chamber of Commerce partnered with Ald. Michele Smith to renovate the passageway, at 2424 N. Lincoln, to make it a friendlier pedestrian path for Lincoln Park residents and visitors. The project, which is part of the Lincoln Avenue Revitalization Strategy, is funded through the Lincoln Avenue Special Service Area #35, with support from Lincoln Hall and Glascott & Associates.
