The Lincoln Park Chamber of Commerce (LPCC) accepted the Community Partnership Award from the Lincoln Park Community Shelter (LPCS) at their annual Award Ceremony and Volunteer Appreciation dinner on November 14. Each year, the LPCS “honors 3 Volunteers who have demonstrated amazing support, dedication, and passion for LPCS.” Specifically, the Community Partnership Award being presented to the LPCC is presented “in recognition of an organization or institution that fosters community and support for LPCS and its mission through collaboration with the shelter.”
The LPCC has been a supporter and advocate for the LPCS for many years. LPCC membership has provided the LPCS with connections to potential volunteers, event partners and donations. In fact, a portion of the proceeds from the LPCC’s “Best Holiday Party Ever” – being held December 10 at MINI of Chicago – will be donated to the LPCS in support of their mission to provide a path toward self-sufficiency for their guests.
The relationship between the LPCC, the LPCS and Lincoln Park businesses goes beyond promotion and advocacy. While many local restaurants and other business partner with the shelter for their Taste of Fall and Metamorphosis events each year, many share the efforts of the LPCS with their customers and neighbors while others have participated as a director on the LPCS Board. Further, several LPCC members, including many representatives from the LPCC’s Board of Directors, volunteer each month to cook breakfast for guests at the LPCS.

“The Lincoln Park Chamber of Commerce is honored to accept this award for our on-going partnership with the Lincoln Park Community Shelter,” said Kim Schilf, LPCC President and CEO. “However, we are not accepting this award alone; we accept it on behalf of all of the members who have donated their time or resources to the shelter and those businesses who share the shelter’s message with their networks.
“Hundreds of Chicago residents have benefitted from the LPCS and their passionate and dedicated staff and volunteers,” Schilf continued. “The LPCC is proud to stand with and support the LPCS’s impact on the community.” For more information on the Lincoln Park Community Shelter, please visit them online at www.lpcsonline.org.
