Man Robs Lincoln Park Restaurant At Gunpoint
Police said the robber forced employees to fill his backpack with thousands of dollars in cash.

CHICAGO, IL — A man robbed a restaurant in the Lincoln Park neighborhood Tuesday night, police said. The robber came in through the back door of the Summer House Santa Monica in the 1900 block of Halsted around 11:30 p.m., according to authorities. The restaurant had been closed since about 10:30, and employees were working inside.
The man went into a back office area armed with a handgun, put a backpack on the floor, and told employees to start filling it with money, police said. The bag was filled with thousands of dollars before the robber took off, according to authorities.
No one was injured in the robbery. Police were not able to confirm how much cash was stolen, but NBC 5 reported the man left with a "substantial amount of money."

It's unknown whether the restaurant had surveillance cameras that captured the robbery.
Police are investigating the incident. No one was in custody.
