Men Charged With Robbing 2 Lincoln Park Convenience Stores

Store employees were robbed at gunpoint Sunday, police said.

CHICAGO — Two men face charges after a pair of armed robberies Sunday on the North Side. The men went into a business in the 2000 block of North Halsted around 7:05 a.m., showed a handgun and demanded the employee open the register, police said. The men then took off with money and merchandise, according to police.

Then 15 minutes later, the men went into a store in the 1300 block of West Fullerton and threatened an employee at gunpoint, police said.

Officers responding to reports of the robbery saw the men running away from the store with stolen cash, police said. The officers chased after the men and arrested them.

Vontez Turner, 20, and Tyler Oates, 23, both of the Humboldt Park neighborhood on the West Side, were each charged with one felony count of robbery and armed robbery with a firearm, police said.

They were scheduled to appear in court for a bail hearing on Monday.
