Accretive Helping Hands recently organized two fundraising events in Jackson, Missouri, with the proceeds going towards buying school supplies for children in need. Jackson’s CrossRoads Church runs a program that provides backpacks and other school-related items for kids, and Accretive Helping Hands greatly enjoyed partnering with this program to serve the local community.
“We are thrilled that all of the combined efforts helped area children get a great start to their 2013/2014 school year,” said Beth Langston, one of the many Accretive Health employees who volunteered time and resources to Accretive Helping Hands. “The goal was to raise enough money to help all of the kids from Jackson who were in need, and we were able to meet that goal.”
The first fundraising event was hosted at Culver’s Restaurant in Cape Girardeau, Mo. Volunteers dedicated their day to serving patrons and helping to clean and maintain the restaurant. In return, Culver’s donated a percentage of their sales for that day to the backpack program.

The second event consisted of a dinner, silent auction, and 50/50 raffle held at CrossRoads Church. Accretive Helping Hands was instrumental in organizing the event with CrossRoads and assisted by running the various activities that took place.
In total, the fundraising events raised $3,300, which provided enough resources to fill backpacks for more than 300 children. Among the items included were pens, pencils, calculators, and school-related coupons.
