National Public Lands Day Chicago: Little Calumet River Cleanup!

This Saturday, September 28th, REI will be promoting initiatives throughout the country in celebration of the National Public Lands Day 20th Anniversary, the nation's largest, single-day volunteer effort for public lands. In Chicago, the REI team, in alliance with Calumet Waterway Stewards, will be teaching volunteers about the ecology and history of the river. While engaging in outdoor activities, such as kayaking and boating, volunteers will be cleaning up the river and having a blast all at the same time. REI staff will be attending and distributing “Get Dirty” shirts and Cliff bars to volunteers.
Paddling activities will happen from the Little Calumet Boat Launch Preserve in Riverdale, IL to Kickapoo Meadows in Harvey and back again.
