CHICAGO –The Palmer House Hilton, 17 E. Monroe, is proud to announce the arrival of its own private label Double Barrel Reposado, Palmer House Tequila, available exclusively at Lockwood Restaurant & Bar and Potter’s. Curated over several years, the unique tequila is designed specifically for an elegant, smooth sipping experience, yielding delightful complex tones of cooked agave, dried fruits and sweet brown spice that can also be enjoyed in many cocktails. To celebrate the release of its signature tequila and the 80th anniversary of the Bloody Mary cocktail, the Palmer House introduces the Bloody Maria, its take on the classic cocktail made with its exclusive Private Label Tequila.
Every bottle of the Double Barrel Reposado is distilled in Amatitán, Jalisco, Mexico at Tequila Herradura, a distiller that was founded in 1870 by Félix López. The extensive process begins with 100% blue agave tequila that is rested for more than 11 months in toasted oak barrels to create its smooth and inviting taste derived directly from each of the unique barrels it is aged in. Afterwards, the tequila is transferred to a new barrel where it is allowed to mature an additional month, ushering in an uncommon smoothness and complex flavor notes of cooked agave, dried fruits and sweet brown spice. The Palmer House Tequila is tasted, approved and authenticated by the Herradura’s master distiller to ensure quality and consistency in every ounce of every bottle.
The Palmer House offers the newly created Bloody Maria, $13.50, which celebrates the arrival of its signature tequila and the Bloody Mary’s 80th Anniversary. Although many hotels and bar around the world claim to be the original creator of the cocktail, some facts are known: the popular beverage was created in 1934 and originally named the Red Snapper as its current name was too profane at the time. The Palmer House’s Bloody Maria combines Palmer House Tequila, Guinness, lemon and lime juices, cilantro and a variety of spices to create a Bloody Mary that gives a nod to the tequila’s south of the border roots.
