REGISTRATION OPEN FOR CUBS CHARITIES 9TH ANNUAL “RACE TO WRIGLEY” 5K PRESENTED BY ATHLETICO
Cubs Charities kicks off the baseball season with the 9th Annual “Race to Wrigley” 5k on Saturday, April 12th at 8:00am at Wrigley Field. Voted ‘Best 5k in the Midwest’ in 2013 by Competitor magazine, last year’s event drew approximately 6,000 runners and raised more than $300,000 for Cubs Charities and the Ann & and Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago.
Presented by Athletico Physical Therapy, “Race to Wrigley” will feature Cubs co-owner Laura Ricketts and local Biggest Loser winner Danni Allen as the official race starters. Runners can expect a course that starts and finishes at the legendary Wrigley Field plus Wrigley 100 themed race swag that includes a long sleeved athletic shirt.

“Race to Wrigley is a great way to not only kick off the baseball season but to celebrate Wrigley Field’s historic 100 year anniversary,” explains Laura Ricketts.

Individual participants and/or groups are invited to make every step count by fundraising as a runner, in support of a runner, or by being a virtual runner. Just like year’s past, Cubs Charities will donate all fundraising proceeds to Lurie Children’s. The top fundraising team and individual fundraiser will receive tickets to the April 22nd Cubs game against the Arizona Diamondbacks and be recognized in a pre-game on-field ceremony. In addition to a variety of fundraising incentives, anyone who raises more than $1,000 will have the opportunity to run a post-race victory lap (with photo) around the warning track of Wrigley Field and have their name displayed on the centerfield scoreboard. All participants will receive a “Race to Wrigley” long sleeved performance running shirt and are encouraged to wear it on race day.
Since its official incorporation in 1986, Cubs Charities and Cubs Care, a McCormick Foundation fund, together have donated more than $25 million to Chicago area nonprofit programs and organizations. Cubs Charities is committed to creating and supporting quality programs that positively impact youth and families in Chicago. Grants and programs are made possible through fundraising events like “Race to Wrigley.”
Anyone interested in participating in the Race to Wrigley can sign up at www.racetowrigley.com. Limited parking will be available in the Green Lot (on Grace just east of Clark) of Wrigley Field as well as meters within the area. Please take notice of ‘no parking’ and 'zone parking' signs
