The Residences at NEWCITY in Chicago's Lincoln Park Earns LEED Gold from the U.S. Green Building Council
NEWCITY features a higher level of insulation, indoor air quality, energy-efficient appliances, a green roof and green cleaning materials

Bucksbaum Retail Properties, Structured Development and JP Morgan Asset Management are proud to announce that the 19-story Residences at NEWCITY tower has earned LEED Gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). The rental tower is the 199-unit residential portion of the 8.5-acre mixed-use NEWCITY development along the Clybourn Corridor in Chicago’s Lincoln Park neighborhood.
“NEWCITY has been such a noteworthy development for many reasons – not the least of which is its scope – and we’re happy to announce one more accolade for the residences,” said Anthony Rossi, Sr., chairman of RMK Management Corp., the management company for the Residences at NEWCITY. “Earning LEED Gold is as much about the green materials of the residential building, of which there are many, as it is about the way it is constructed.”
For example, the building features a higher level of insulation and indoor air quality, plus energy-efficient appliances, a green roof and utilizes green cleaning materials.

Floor plans at NEWCITY measure 590 to 1,315 square feet and include studio, convertible, one-bed/one-bath, one-bed/one-bath plus den, and two-bed/two-bath plans. All homes feature quartz countertops in the kitchen, bath and built-in tech desk; GE® Energy Star® clean steel appliances; plank flooring throughout; 9- to 10-foot ceilings; floor-to-ceiling windows; in-unit washer and dryer; and private balconies.
Notable interior features, depending on the residence, include sliding partitions in the convertible units; a semi-circular full wall of windows in select two-bedroom plans; and balconies stretching the full length of an apartment home.

“These are very modern, sleek apartments with in-demand finishes and features,” said Rossi. “And while they are among the greenest apartment homes available in Chicago, with features to conserve water, electricity and natural gas, they are also among the most luxurious, proving that renters don’t have to sacrifice luxury in order to reduce their impact on the environment.”
In addition to high-end homes, residents of NEWCITY also enjoy a 24-hour doorman at the building’s private entrance, cyber café and coffee bar, reservable conference room, bike parking and repair station, and a fitness studio with interactive classes. The building’s fourth floor features an outdoor grilling area, lounge with a fire pit, swimming pool and spa, and dog run; a theater room; and a 24-hour gym with Life Fitness equipment. Residents also have access to Pressbox dry cleaning valet. Reserved parking is available.
NEWCITY also includes more than 360,000 square feet of retail and commercial space including a new Mariano’s, ArcLight Cinemas, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Earl’s Kitchen and Bar, Nandos Peri Peri, LYFE Kitchen, Adobe Gilas, Kings Bowling and more. This is in addition to the neighborhood’s already established retailers, such as the Apple Store, Crate and Barrel and J.Crew near the popular CTA Red Line station at North Avenue and Clybourn.
“Chicagoans haven’t seen a North Side mixed-use development like where they can live, work and play in many years. Everything is right outside your front door, and that is why this has been such a popular address for urban dwellers looking for a luxury rental,” Rossi noted. “We are already more than 40 percent leased.”
“There will be just about everything a city dweller wants for a complete live/work/play lifestyle experience right outside their door,” Rossi said.
Rents at The Residences at NEWCITY start at $1,972. The leasing office is located onsite at 1457 Halsted and walk-ins are welcome. For leasing questions, call 312-578-8444 or email NewCity@RMK.com. For more information on NEWCITY, visit www.experiencenewcity.com.
