River North's Leghorn Cafe At Ohio House Motel Closes

The fast food chicken spot on LaSalle Street shut its doors last week.

CHICAGO, IL — The Leghorn Cafe on the corner of Ohio and LaSalle, known for its fried chicken sandwiches, has closed, according to the restaurant group Element Collective. The group chose not to renew the lease for the River North Leghorn location, which opened in 2014. According to several reports, dinner traffic was too sparse at the spot at 600 N. LaSalle Street.

Chef and partner of Element Collective, Jared Van Camp, is now focusing his efforts on the revamp of the Leghorn joint at 959 Western Avenue in Humboldt Park, which is set to open Wednesday.

The revamp includes new menu options, such as fried chicken sliders, shakes, frozen custards and cheese fries. The building is also getting some interior upgrades, such as added floors and a new paint job.
