Rowing: the Latest Low-Impact, High-Intensity Craze at CrossTown Fitness

CrossTown Fitness thrives on total body workouts and now, with the help of Concept2’s latest indoor machine, the West Loop gym has incorporated rowing into their 50 minute workout regimes. In a whirl of spinning and busy treadmills, rowing is the newest low impact yet high calorie burning workout technique for CTF gym goers of all ages and athletic ability.

The Concept2, the closest simulation to rowing on the water, is now incorporated into all personal training sessions and classes at CTF as an alternative to many of the strenuous workout equipment out there. Certified managing trainer, Betina Gozo says, “Many of our members who have knee or joint issues opt for the rowing machine rather than hitting the pavement for a run. Rowing gives people a tough cardio workout and doubles as a strength training exercise, rain or shine.”

If Chicagoans can’t make it to Lake Michigan this summer or are training for a triathlon, Gozo and other trainers at CTF encourage members to check out their sessions with these new indoor rowing machines as it incorporates numerous muscle groups, improves core strength and is ultimately easy on the joints.
