Kiko Veneno, born in Figueres Spain, has a long
critically acclaimed career, and 12 collaborative and solo albums to his name. Veneno`s
style draws from rock icons like Frank Zappa and Bob Dylan, and the flamenco
tradition, creating a rich eclectic sound that has produced legendary numbers
such as “Volando Voy”. In 1975, his
encounter with brothers Rafael and
Raimundo Amadour changed his life and his music, resulting in the group
“Veneno” and a debut album by the same name, now considered an essential disc
of Spanish music. He followed this with a collaborative album with the great
Camarón de la Isla. His first solo LP “Seré mecánico por ti” was incredibly
successful and led to the releases of “Échate un cantecito”, “Está muy bien eso
del cariño” and “El hombre invisible”. He collaborated and toured with several
well-known artists such as Jorge Drexler, Pepe Begines, Juan Perro, Charlie
Cepeda, and Jackson Browne. In 2006 he formed the group G5 alongside Los Delincüentes,
Tomasito and Muchachito Bombo Infierno. In 2012, Kiko Veneno received Spain`s
National Prize for Contemporary Music for his “decisive contribution for three
decades to the integration of international music and Hispanic music”.
