String of Lake View Robberies Have Elements of Violence

Chicago police say at least four victims "viciously attacked" in strong arm robberies, ABC 7 Chicago reports.

At least four people who were mugged on the North Side in recent weeks were seriously injured, ABC 7 Chicago reported.

Chicago 19th District police issued a community alert last weekend warning of a series of strong arm street robberies that occurred in the past two weeks. All of the robberies took place between midnight and 5 a.m.

Police told ABC 7 Chicago that four people were viciously attacked by three or more individuals in the Lake View neighborhood, two of whom ended up in the hospital.

DePaul University student Lucas Wittwer that he was beaten to the ground steps from Wrigley Field.

Wittwer was briefly hospitalized for treatment of head and elbow injuries.

Another man, Seth Day, said he was robbed and beaten on Halsted Street near Buckingham Place.

The men left him bloodied and beaten, and then used his credit card hours later, ABC 7 Chicago reported.

The robberies occurred July 19m July 20 and July 25, on Halsted Street and Clark. In two of the attacks, the victims said the groups three and four black male were accompanied by a female accomplice.
