SWAT Units Called to Near North Side After Report of Woman Screaming for Help

An incident Sunday between police and occupants of an Old Town apartment was resolved peacefully.

CHICAGO, IL — SWAT teams were part of an incident at a Near North Side apartment building Sunday after police received a call about a woman screaming for help, according to a report by NBC 5 Chicago.

Police told the TV station that at about 2:39 p.m. a 911 caller reported hearing a woman yell for assistance. Tactical units then responded to an incident in the 300 block of West Evergreen Avenue in the Old Town neighborhood, the report added.

After almost six hours, the situation was resolved when the occupants of the apartment came out on their own at about 8:09 p.m., according to the report. Police had sent SWAT teams to the scene because of past history at the address, the report added.
