Myth #6: Training the abs (crunches, sit-ups, planks, etc.) consistently will reduce your waistline and give you the six-pack or eight-pack you desire.

If you have a layer of fat covering your midsection you will never see the muscle no matter how many sit-ups you do. For the most part if your bodyfat is above 12% your abs will be hidden. So make sure you get your cardio in and watch your diet to reduce your body fat, it will do a lot more than 1,000 sit-ups a day
