Two Charged In North Side Shooting: Police

Two suspects face charges after a shooting about a block away from one of Chicago's busiest tourist areas, police said.

CHICAGO, IL — Two people have been arrested after a shooting Tuesday in the city's Near North neighborhood. No injuries were reported, however one of the suspects faces a felony count of reckless discharge of a firearm. Police said a handgun was fired in the 1100 block of N. Dearborn at about 10:30 p.m.

The shooting happened about a block away from popular restaurants like Lou Malnati's and Velvet Taco.

Police said Nathaniel Westbrooks, 51, fired a gun and fled the scene in a white vehicle with Brijona Eskridge, 27, of Maywood. Police said they found the two in the 100 block of West Oak Street, where Eskridge allegedly made false and misleading statements.

Westbrooks faces a felony count of reckless discharge of a firearm and a count of reckless conduct. He's scheduled to appear in bond court Thursday.

Eskridge faces one count of obstructing an officer and is scheduled to appear in court Jan. 23.
